Preferences

Forger allows adjusting user settings in the preferences menu, these user choices are saved and restored across different Forger sessions.

The preferences can be edited through the "Preferences" menu.

Input

Gestures

  • Allow Roll Gesture: Determines whether the two finger rotation gesture allows 'rolling' the camera (the camera can only be 'rolled' when set to 'Free Orbit Style').

  • 1x Tap Selection: Allows changing selection by doing a single tap on (unselected) objects.

  • 2x Tap Object Frames It: Allows moving the camera so the selection fits the view by doing a double tap on a selected object.

  • 2x Tap Canvas Frames It: Allows moving the camera so all objects in the scene fit the view by double tapping on the canvas.

  • 2x Tap Thresh.: Determines the minimum time that must elapse between two taps in order to consider it a double tap. Adjusting this value can help avoid uninteded double taps.

Controls

  • Toggle Shortcuts: If enabled, all shortcuts will act as toggles, they will 'lock' when pressed and 'unlocked' when pressed again, if disabled, they will need to be held pressed.

  • Action Key: If using an external keyboard, this allows to define whether the "Command" or the "Control" key is preferred for basic shortcuts.

  • 2x Tap Pencil: If using an Apple Pencil with double tap support, this allows choosing whether the iOS level setting is followed or a custom Forger one is used.

  • Smooth Multiplier: This is the brush size multiplier used when temporarily switching to the Smooth brush (the default is 1.33).

  • Pressure Curve: This curve is applied to the input pressure of the various devices before setting the final pressure in the active tool, allowing you to adjust pressure handling to your preference.

Input Type

Please refer to the gestures section

  • Free Orbit Style: Controls the orbiting style. When disabled, the orbiting style will be turntable (the classic navigation for all 3d software); when enabled the orbiting style will be a ”Rolling Ball” freestyle orbiting (this navigation style might feel more natural to some users for sculpting as it has no restrictions in the way it handles orbiting).

  • Action Pivot: Enable this option to use the last active point as the center for all navigation actions, note that this center will still stay in place in screen coordinates.

  • Orbit Speed: Multiplier used for navigation speed in 'Orbit' moder.

  • Pan Speed: Multiplier used for navigation speed in 'Pan' mode, higer values will make panning actions more sensible to the two finger drag gesture.

  • Zoom Speed: Multiplier used for navigation speed in 'Zoom' mode, higer values will make zooming in/out more sensible to the pinch gesture.

  • Roll Speed: Multiplier used for navigation speed in 'Roll' mode, higher values will make rolling more sensible to the two finger rotation gesture.

File I/O

Autosave

  • Auto Save Scene: This option will determine whether the scene will be autosaved when the app is moved to the background, it will automatically disable itself if the scene is deemed 'too heavy' (with prior notification).

  • Time Interval: Determines the maximum amount of time elapsed in minutes between two consecutive auto-save attempts.

  • Max. Files: Determines the maximum amount of autosaves.

  • Convert Legacy Scenes: If enabled, scenes created before v1.7.0 will be converted to the new, faster, more compact, format when being loaded.

History

  • Flush History: This option will flush history freeing up memory.

UI

Interface

  • Left Handed: Changes the layout of the app to display the SideBar and menus on the right, having this disabled will mean that the app is in Right Handed mode and thus the sidebar and menus will be on the left. (This may seem counter-intuitive but is actually done on purpose so the hand that you don’t use as much is the one you will use to change brushes and the other hand can stay on top of the model).

  • Accent Color: This value represents the color that will be applied to most buttons and contrlos throughout the user interface.**

  • Border Width: This value refers to the width of the border around the viewport, other than having an aesthetic purpose it also serves as a way to orbit the camera around the selection as touching the border will start an orbiting action.

  • Defer System Edge Gestures: This value determines whether the 'system' edge 'multitasking' gestures should take precedence over Forger's own gestures, e.g.: swipe up to bring up the dock, swipe left/right to bring up other apps, etc... Regardless of this value, Forger always allows any gestures from the top screen edge.

Colors

  • Background Color: Controls the background color (clear color) of the viewport.
  • Cursor Default: Controls the usual color of the cursor, when there is no shortcut pressed.
  • Cursor Smooth: Controls the color of the cursor, when the smooth shortcut button is pressed.
  • Cursor Alternate: Controls the color of the cursor, when the alternate shortcut button is pressed.

Other

Energy

  • Battery Saver Mode: When enabled, the viewport will only refresh when absolutely needed, reducing battery usage. This setting does not affect sculpting performance in any way.

Others

  • Display Pressure Widget: This option will add a little widget to the viewport that will display stylus pressure if a pressure-sensitive stylus is being used.
  • Display Memory Chart: Shows a viewport widget in the form of a pie chart that represents the memory taken up by Forger (blue), all the other apps (red) and the available memory (green). Please note that the operating system needs some memory left to work so it is recommended that there is some memory left to the OS to work with. It is recommended that you close all background apps that you can.
  • Reset All Settings: Resets all settings to factory settings, including all tool preferences.
