Licensing
Forger introduces both free and subscription licensing options. The subscription version is available as part of a Maxon One subscription or from the iOS AppStore as a single product subscription. This section details each.
Registration
Registration with Maxon is not required when Forger is first used. For subscribers, registration is required to connect your subscription to our systems which will then give you access to more features in the future. Free users are required to register after an initial 14-day grace period.
Free
The free version of Forger is not time-limited, you can use it for as long as you want. This version is intended for users to explore and learn the application at their leisure. The free version is fully functional and contains all the features of the subscription offering. Only professional users will notice the Free version’s limitations, these are:
- 3 Document save limit: You can open as many scenes as you wish, but can only save 3 scenes, any more than this requires a subscription. If you already have 3 scenes saved and wish to start a new scene you will be offered the option to delete one of the existing files.
Note
Files that were saved while a subscription was active can be opened and edited, but cannot be saved in Free mode. This is to allow users to explore and learn from the scenes of others.
- Export: Exporting any scene requires a subscription, this includes sending to Cinema 4D. Rendering is permitted to allow users to see the results of their work in its final form.
Subscription
Forger is available for subscription in two ways, either via the iOS AppStore or as part of a Maxon One subscription. There is no difference in the functionality of Forger for either of these options, registration with Maxon is required for both.
If you do not have an active subscription, the shopping cart in the gallery view will be lit blue. Selecting this will show the available subscription options from the iOS AppStore. Maxon One subscriptions can only be purchased from the Maxon store.
-
iOS AppStore: If you subscribe from the iOS AppStore the 3-file scene save limit will be removed and all the export options will be available the next time you launch Forger. There is no further action to take from within Forger.
-
Maxon One: If you are a Maxon One subscriber you will need to first sign in as you do in any Maxon application. Once you have signed in, if a Maxon One entitlement is available on your account, you will be asked if you would like to activate your Maxon One license in Forger. You may wish to continue to use the Free version, should you have more than one iPad this may be of use.
When your Maxon One subscription is activated in Forger the 3-file scene save limit will be removed and all the export options will be available.
-
Deactivation: If you have Maxon One license active in Forger and you wish to release it, you can do so by selecting the avatar icon in the gallery view. Under ‘Maxon Account’ you can select ‘Deactivate License’ to release the license for use elsewhere and return to Free mode.
Note
Maxon One licenses can be used concurrently with Forger and Cinema 4D.
